Dr. Kayse Shrum [Softball '13]
Dr. Kayse M. Shrum, Provost of Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences, is a 1992 graduate of Connors State College, where she attended on a softball scholarship.
While at Connors Shrum was on the Dean’s Honor Roll, Who’s Who in American Junior Colleges, member of Phil Theta Kappa Honor Society and was an NJCAA Academic All-American.
Following graduation from Connors, she attended Northeastern State University, University of Arkansas and Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine becoming a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.
In addition to serving as the Provost of OSU Center for Health Sciences, she currently serves as the Dean of College of Osteopathic Medicine, Chair and Professor of Pediatrics.
Prior to her current positions, Shrum served as Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs, Chairman for the Department of Pediatrics, Associate Professor, Assistant Residency Program Director, Co-Course Coordinator for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, and a Pediatrician at the Muskogee Children’s Clinic.
Known as an outstanding fundraiser, Shrum has raised approximately $8 million for medical development and teaching fellowships during her tenure at Oklahoma State University.
She has more than 50 publications and presentations credited to her name.
In 2001 she was named the Rookie Physician of the year by Saint Francis Health Systems Endowed Chair of Pediatrics, and at Oklahoma State was on the Dean’s Honor Roll, Phil Kappa Phi Honor Society, recipient of the Janet M. Glasgow Academic Achievement Citation and the a member of Sigma Sigma Phil Honor Society.
