Harold D. Cagle
Harold graduated from Connors in 1956 where he was the quarterback of the football team. He graduated from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah and began a career of coaching and teaching in Kansas but soon returned to Oklahoma. He came back to Connors in 1963 where he coached football and track and taught math and physical education. He was head football coach for two years and ended up the last football coach as Connors abandoned the sport after the 1966 season.
He went to St. Joseph, MO as head football coach where he started the football program at Missouri Western State University and served in an administrative capacity. While there he coached and developed one All American and seven All Conference football players.
Harold continued his career in Oklahoma instilling his talents and fundamentals of football and work ethic while serving with distinction as football coach, teacher, assistant principal and athletic director in various high schools in Northeastern Oklahoma. He also was superintendent of schools in Wyandotte and Braggs, Oklahoma. After retirement he continued guiding young men and women through part time coaching football and even serving as gold coach at Vian for boys and girls.
He has been a promoter of Connors having serving on the Board of Directors for Connors Alumni & Friends Association for several years. His lifetime goal was to build a legacy of the value of education and the vast possibilities that can be attained through hard work and dedication that has helped hundreds of students. He has the innate ability to relate to people and he has many, many friends over several states.
Harold was inducted on April 23, 2011.
