Debra Gail Evans

Debra Gail Evans, was born Feb 12, 1959. Debbie is the oldest of four children for Pete & Louise Evans, both CSC Alums. She has three brothers: Kenny, Greg, & Doug. She has two children, Alicia Cornelius and Robert Evans. Her two grandchildren, Ariana and Jaxon, are her pride & joy. Her parents and all three brother are (or were) educators. Debbie is a National Board Certified Secondary Science Teacher who comes from long line of educators and education-support staff.

After graduation from Warner High School in May of 1977, Debbie attended Connors State College obtaining her Associate Degree in one year. She went on to Northeastern State University to graduate with a BS ED in secondary education in 1980 and later a M.A. in communication in 1984. These degrees took her to several small northeastern Oklahoma schools. Debbie has taught high school science, English and speech for 28 years. Teaching in a small school means that she teaches more different in classes, but it also means that her students are family and that she knows everyone in the community.

Debbie has won numerous awards during her teaching career including being an Oklahoma State Superintendent of Schools Master Teacher for 5 years. She was a NASA NEW teacher and she is a Space Foundation Teacher Liaison and has presented at numerous state and national science teacher meetings. To always try and to do more had led Debbie to her newest career. She has recently become a Mary Kay Independent Sales Director and is moving up that career ladder.

To work hard, to strive to always do your best, and do what you love are all things that Debbie learned from her Connors education.

Debbie was inducted on April 30, 2016.
